Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), one of the largest life insurance
companies in India, has increased its holdings in Andhra Bank (BOM:532418) to
10% by acquiring fresh 9.99% stake in the bank through purchase from the stock
market.
LIC acquired 55.8 million shares under a fresh acquisition of 9.99% stake on June 21, taking its total holding percentage in Andhra Bank to 10%. This was declared by the lender in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
The insurer holds more than 55.9 million shares or a little over 10% stake in the public sector undertaking lender. LIC’s holdings in Andhra Bank are evaluated at over Rs 7,500 million.
The shares of Andhra Bank tumbled by 0.41% yesterday to close at Rs 133.95 on the BSE.
